Otomen by Aya Kanno
This manga series is about a boy named Asuka Masamune who loves girly things: “the shiny, the sparkling, the cute, and the sweet” (such as cooking and sewing). No one knows this, however, because he is always acting manly. Everyone thinks he is a man among men, he’s even the captain of the kendo team. Everything was fine . . . until Asuka fell in love with the manly Ryo (girl). :P
I love this series. :D It’s always fun, there are many places where you can’t help but laugh. You get to see some different types of otomen as the series moves along and they become friends. This series makes me love otomen! Go girly guys!
Note-Otomen is Japanese for boys who love girly things.

Whistle! by Deisuke Higuchi
Shó Kasamitsuri loves soccer. He loves it so much that he transfers from a really good school because they won’t let him play on the field. People didn’t think he could really play soccer because he’s so short. He starts off on a bad foot, but his determination and love of soccer helps him keep moving forward. He makes many friends on his journey to achieve his dream.
Whistle, in my opinion, is the living proof that you need friends. If Shó wasn’t such a good person and he didn’t have any friends, he would have quit soccer in the first book and that would have been the end. Instead, his friends help support and inspire him to do better. Shó is so nice and loves soccer so much I don’t feel worthy to be the same age as him, much less kinda know him.

King of Hell by R.A. In-soo
Three hundred years ago a great swordsman shook the martial arts world but he was defeated and hasn’t been seen since. Now a young envoy named Majeh is killing demons for the king of Hell, but what does he have to do with the legendary warrior three hundred years ago? Follow Majeh on his adventures in the human world, making friends and enemies while trying to help save the world.
I recommend this manga to people who like swords, blood, and lots of laughs. The pictures aren’t the best, the story is good enough to make up for it and more. Lots of laughs!

Full Moon O Sagashite by Arina Tanemura
This manga is about Mitsuki who has an illness in her throat that prevents her from singing (loudly) which stops her achieving from achieving her dreams of becoming a singer. Then two harbingers of death appear telling her she only has a year to live. But instead of destroying her dreams her dreams they help make them happen!
This story is a great story about music, friendship, and bonds that survive even death. This is a short, fulfilling series, the characters are hilarious and the story is really fun. My favorite character is Takuto, the cat shinigami.

Bleach by Tite Kubo
Bleach is about a guy named Ichigo who, for as long as he can remember, has been able to see ghosts (he is also a delinquent). Then one day he meets a soul reaper named Rukia whose job is to help the dead "pass over" and to kill evil souls called hollows. Then Ichigo and his family get attacked by a hollow, where Ichigo shows abnormal abilities and, for various reasons, get a mustache drawn on him by Rukia. Rukia gets injured by the hollow and can no longer fight and Rukia is forced to transmit her soul reaper powers into Ichigo. She had only meant to give him some but he takes all her soul reaper powers and defeats the hollow. Thus starts Ichigo's new life as a soul reaper (shinigami).
Ichigo is a kind person a heart but it's usually hard to tell because of his rough manner and fighting ways. The reason he becomes a really soul reaper is because he wishes to protect people. This series is about Ichigo saving the world (and other people) and making friends while doing it. Ichigo is a ginger and the book says that people call him 'strawberry' but no one has really ever called him that.
This series is very popular and involves lots of fight scenes, spirits, and another world. I recommend this to people who like action and other worlds. I really liked the series, especially the anime!

Skip Beat! by Yoshiki Nukamura
This is manga is about a girl named Kyoko who followed her true love and childhood friend Sho to Tokyo so he can become a star. She works her but off for him every day and is unable to go to high school so that she can rent a fancy room at a hotel for Sho and her to live in. Lately he hadn't been going to the room very often so she is overjoyed when she sees that he is home and bribes him to stay with pudding. Then they see superstar Ren Tsugara on the TV as he is declared the hottest guy and Sho gets mad and storms off. It hurt him especially because they gave him a lower spot on the list. The next day Kyoko calls him to try to make him cheer up and remembers that she has one of her part time jobs off that day and goes to deliver food to Sho. She was just thinking about how lucky she was when she overhears Sho calling her the equivalent of a maid and insulting her because of some of the things she had to give up for him like not wearing make-up. He then says that the only reason he brought her was because she was always like a maid and he reveals that she was the prime candidate to be his wife. He had told her before that he was running away because he was going to be forced to marry a girl from around there, "a girl who was plain and boring". She realizes that he was talking about her and throws the food at Sho. She then starts laughing and the chest in her soul with her evil self is unlocked and all hell breaks loose (literally). She then hates Sho with all her being and declares that she will get her revenge. As she is being taken away by bodyguards Sho tells her that if she wants to get her revenge, she should join the Show Business. Thus Kyoko begins her quest for revenge and begins to show her talent as an actor.
This is a good series that I am anxiously waiting to get continued . . . and I recommend this to people who like the Japanese 'Show Business', quests for revenge, evil spirits, and a possibility of love.
